Research Project - Can You Help?
How much does marine debris cost you?
KIMO is an international association of Local Authorities and associated organizations that works towards cleaning up pollution in the North Sea, the Irish Sea, the North East Atlantic and the Arctic Seas.
Following a successful pilot study in 2000 entitled “The Economic and Social Impacts of Marine Litter and Oil on Coastal Communities” (Hall 2000) KIMO are undertaking a further study to update this information. The aim of this project is to undertake a study, looking at the economic factors of this type of pollution. A report will be produced outlining the total financial cost to the north east Atlantic coastal communities.
As part of this study, KIMO are collecting data relating to the problems that marine debris causes to the marinas and the leisure boat owning community in order to assess the economic cost to this sector due to marine debris.
If you are a boat or marina owner please download and complete the questionnaire below to assist in this report.
