Space in you clubs' winter event programme?

Many of you kindly responded to our questionnaire this time last year and The Green Blue has had a busy year in Scotland since, raising awareness and distributing our environmental advice for recreational sailors, clubs and businesses.  We have now trained 6 volunteers around Scotland, so hopefully we will be able to give more talks and reach more clubs in 2009.  In order to start planning our talks programme for the New Year, if your club/association would like us to come and speak to committee and general members, then please contact me (see below).

We are happy to visit your club to meet boat users, talk about the work of the project, demonstrate our interactive CD Rom "Into The Green Blue", and answer any questions members may have.  As the winter season is upon us I know many clubs are keen to fill their calendar with various speakers and events.  If your club has any such evening or weekend events planned that you would like us to speaker at, we are able to do a 20 min- 1 hour presentation explaining what simple steps everybody can take towards protecting the environment whilst on the water.  This often works best in conjunction with a club evening event or dinner, or if you are happy to extend the invitation to neighbouring clubs.

We believe there are a number of simple steps that boat owners and the marine industry can take to protect the environment and keep within ever increasing legislation.  To inform of and encourage these actions, we have produced a series of publications as well as an interactive CD Rom, all available free to clubs and training centres.  The RYA Planning and Environment Handbook is also available to download from our website.

If you would like to organise for a Green Blue representative visit your club then please contact: Julia.Christie@thegreenblue.org.uk
